It’s no secret that Pete Buttigieg has a white privilege problem. But, to paraphrase a certain former FBI director, Lordy, there is now a tape:
Pete probably thought he was telling a joke, but I ain’t laughing. I am white trash from Westville, Illinois, but I know for a fact that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, which is a U.S. state, which makes Obama a natural-born U.S. citizen. The racist Birther movement against Obama was absolutely disgusting, and for Pete to pander to supporters of a racist conspiracy theory is absolutely unacceptable conduct for someone running for our party’s presidential nomination.
Would I vote for Pete if he were to win the Democratic nomination? I absolutely would. However, I strongly believe that my fellow Democrats shouldn’t nominate someone who has a history of pandering to the Birther movement.
